Brónagh, tell us a little bit about yourself and your role within the company? I have worked for almost 5 years with Smarttech247 in the role of Managed Services Manager. I was just the second hire here in Belfast and the key parts of my role are to enhance the visibility and client base of the company within the north and across the UK.
Over the past five years I’ve been able to build on our existing client relationships which are forged within our home network of the Republic of Ireland, while building a truly comprehensive offering to both our existing clients and new ones across Ireland, UK, Europe and the US.
During this time I’ve been able to leverage and develop client relationships, and have been fortunate to expand our offering to clients across the US and the global landscape. This is allowed me within my role to travel extensively offering services to our Our clientele includes elite multinationals, Fortune 120-500 entities across various industries, from manufacturing, automotive, financial, education to healthcare. We prioritise a people-centric approach, believing in the power of human expertise combined with best-of-breed security technologies.
Brónagh what do you say are the current and future challenges inside the security industry?
The threat landscape: bad actors are becoming more sophisticated in their approach, they’re more dynamic and more opportunistic. This is causing considerable challenges for companies and it is a landscape that will only become even more complex with the advent of AI.
Compliance: businesses are facing a myriad of compliance measures which are creating more work for ever more stretched teams. DORA came into force in January and we are yet to see the outworkings of this and the local context. Coupled with the ever increasing demands on stretched teams, our team seeks to support our customers with a range of supports that can help mitigate and demystify some of the complexities of the new legislation.
AI adoption: AI is no longer an emerging technology, it is a tool which if used ethically can provide real benefits in several environments. But the challenge for companies of any size is to try to ensure that their team does not fall foul of the bad actors, who are seeking to cause havoc on their network.
What are smarttech247s plans for Belfast? We are proactively working on the development of a centre of excellence which would be based in Belfast. This centre will be the home to both an engineering team and a sales team. Why Belfast? Customers find the Belfast approach refreshing and the quality of our cybersecurity professionals is of the highest standard. Customers find our down to earth, pragmatic and rational approach refreshing. When coupled with a high degree of technical competency and professionalism, Belfast makes for a winning combination which brings great value to our customers.
Tell us about the Smarttech247 culture?
Often, we see the challenges of large companies are the same as those of small companies, so the support we give to our customers with a smaller footprint is the same as what we give to our larger clients, We view each engagement as a a long-term, strategic partnership.
Our empathetic approach to the challenges all our customers face sets us apart. Smarttech24/7 and I think Belfast itself approaches solutions in a ‘Mi Casa Su Casa’ way, in that we treat their environment as we would ours. This really resonates with companies.
In terms of our team, we have a collaborative approach to problem solving and our team get togethers really encourage a cross pollination of work and ideas. We have a really strong DEI focus and a global presence which gives staff so many opportunities.
During my time at Smarttech247, I’ve had the privilege of building strong, lasting relationships with clients and partners, many of whom I now consider trusted partners and friends. These connections have not only enriched my professional journey but have also reinforced the value of trust, transparency, and partnership in everything we do.
